behind the treats
No refrigeration is needed! The art of dehydration naturally preserves our treats and chews, making them shelf-stable for your convenience. Simply store them in a cool, dry place to maintain their freshness. Once opened, we recommend using treats within four weeks for optimal flavor and texture. Chews, on the other hand, can last six months or more when stored properly.
To avoid any issues like mold or pests, let chews air dry after use and steer clear of sealing them in plastic containers that might trap moisture. If you need longer storage, the fridge or freezer is an excellent option to keep products fresh. At Earth and Tail, we stand by every product we make — if you’re not 100% satisfied, contact us for a refund or replacement.
Yes, all of our treats are hormone and antibiotic-free. We partner with local family farms that prioritize ethical and sustainable practices, ensuring your dog enjoys only the highest quality products. By sourcing directly from farms with these values, we provide treats that are as wholesome and natural as possible for your pup.
Absolutely! All our products are proudly made in the USA and transparently sourced from local family farms. We partner directly with farmers who prioritize ethical and sustainable practices, ensuring the best for your pup.
At Earth and Tail, our name reflects our mission. "Earth" represents the natural, ethical origins of our ingredients — rooted in sustainability, care, and stewardship. "Tail" honors the dogs we serve, whose joy, loyalty, and well-being inspire everything we do. Together, Earth and Tail is a celebration of the bond we share with our dogs and the land that sustains us. It’s a commitment to nourishing both, with integrity and care.
Our treats are sourced exclusively from family farms that operate on sustainable, rotational farming practices.
This means that not all animals are raised year-round, so some of our products may be seasonal.
We prioritize quality and sustainability, so while we’d love to have every item in stock all the time, we work within the natural cycles of our farm partners. Rest assured, out-of-stock items will return when available!
CHEWING essentials
Introducing new treats and chews is simple with a few thoughtful steps. Start slow by giving your dog a small portion to allow their digestive system to adjust. Monitor their response to the new ingredients and chewing experience. Supervise chew time, especially if it’s their first time with a dehydrated chew or bone.
Match the chew to your dog’s chewing style — whether they’re a gentle nibbler or a determined chewer. For new chews, consider holding it during the first session to guide safe chewing. Always provide fresh water nearby and observe how your dog handles the treat. With a little patience, you’ll find the perfect match for their enjoyment and health.
Most of our products are suitable for all life stages, but puppies often need extra supervision while chewing. Their growing teeth and developing jaws might find certain chews or dehydrated bones a bit challenging. Start with softer, easy-to-manage treats and chews, and observe your pup’s chewing behavior.
If it’s their first time with a chew, hold it for them during the session to guide proper chewing. Limit how much they consume initially to give their stomach time to adjust to the nutrient-rich ingredients. Supervise chew time closely to ensure safety, especially with dehydrated bones. If your puppy’s a gulper or a particular chew isn’t a good fit, don’t hesitate to reach out — we’ll make it right with our satisfaction guarantee.
Every dog is unique, and chewing habits vary. It’s always best to monitor your dog when introducing a new chew. Start with short, supervised sessions to gauge how they handle it. At Earth and Tail, we craft our chews using low-temperature cooking methods to maximize safety and quality. Always supervise your pup during chewing sessions and provide fresh, clean water nearby.
Yes! Chewing is one of the best activities for dogs, offering both mental and physical benefits.
Just 10 minutes of chewing can release endorphins, promoting relaxation and a sense of accomplishment. It also helps clean teeth and gums, reducing the risk of dental disease and improving your dog’s overall health.
My dog isn’t a big chewer. What can I do to motivate them?
Some dogs have a lower natural chew drive, but you can encourage interest!
- Keep chews out of reach when not in use so they remain exciting.
- Limit chew time to around 30 minutes to make it feel like a high-value activity.
This can help even the most reluctant chewer enjoy the benefits.
TREATS done right
Far from being waste, organ meat is a powerhouse of nutrition for carnivores like your dog. Packed with essential vitamins and minerals, organ meats play a critical role in supporting your dog’s overall health. While some organs act as filters in the body, they do not store toxins. Instead, they contribute to your dog’s vitality.
Because we source from ethical, pasture-raised farms, the organ meats we use are of the highest quality — clean, nutrient-dense, and designed to help your dog thrive. To learn more about the benefits of organ meat, check out the Nutritional Benefits section on each product page.
Not even close!
At Earth and Tail, our jerky is made from 100% meat, with no fillers, salt, or sugar—just pure nutrition for your pup.
Unfortunately, some products sourced overseas have raised concerns for safety in the past. That’s why we work directly with American farms to ensure every treat meets the highest standards.
Pro tip: Always check the ingredient list on any pet treat to ensure it’s made with your dog’s health in mind!
Single-ingredient treats are an excellent choice for your dog’s health. By eliminating fillers, additives, and artificial ingredients, you’re providing your pup with a treat that is pure, nutrient-rich, and easy to digest. This is especially beneficial for dogs with allergies, food sensitivities, or sensitive stomachs. Additionally, single-ingredient treats make it easier to know exactly what your pet is eating, giving you peace of mind while supporting their overall well-being.
